Did you know?

If our definition of a day was truly based on one complete rotation of the Earth on its axis — a 360 degree spin — then a day would be 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4 seconds. This is nearly 4 minutes shorter than our 24-hour standard day.

What Do You Know About Tee Ball

What Do You Know About Tee Ball?

In Te Ngahere we have been learning a game called Tee ball. When we got to the field the year fives were already playing so we had to wait for them to finish but when we watched them we could learn off them and see some tips of how to play. After they finished I had to do rock paper scissors to decide whos on batting team. I lost rock paper scissors so my team was fielding first. When we started to play we had to decide who could stand on different bases. When we did the person who hit had to run straight after he or she hit the ball. If the fielding team tapped the orange mat with the ball before he or she got there the person who hit would be out. I really enjoyed learning how to play tee ball and I hope that we can learn more tee ball throughout the term. Have you ever played Tee Ball?

 Crick-Tastic Cricket

On Wednesday Te Ngahere went out to play cricket. We went outside and then we  met this guy called Neil he was our cricket instructor. First he talked to us about how to hold the cricket bat and told us the stance to stand in. when he finished talking he made us get in a pair of two. When we got into groups we had to decide who was going to be one or two I was two and my partner Jamie was one Jamie was the first on to hit the ball. There was three balls that we could hit so when he hit one he could just put another one on the cone. It was annoying because he could hit it far so I had to run back and forth. When it was over we had a new game to play it was called speed cricket. We had to get into teams and then we were either feilding or bating  we had to swap over if we got all the bats out.

The Brutal Boxing.

In the weekend my family and I went to a boxing match. We went there to watch my brothers friend fight , I had never been to a boxing match before so I thought it was going to be exciting. When we arrived I had just woken up from sleeping in the car so we got out and waited for my sister to find a parking spot. When she finally did we went inside and then this lady had to mark our hand so if we went out and then wanted to come back in we had to show a security guard our mark on our hand. So when we went in we found a seat and sat down the first match didn't start for about ten minutes. So we just went and bought something to eat before the match started. When the match started it was amazing the first guy to throw a punch lost because he was using all of his energy on the first round. But by the time my brothers friend came on I was really excited so after the ref stopped talking he came into the ring and the two guys started to box. On the first round it was quick my brothers friend was good at punching and the other guy kept letting down his guard so he lost the first round. I really enjoyed watching the boxing and I hope I can go to another match.

 Fun PE Drills.

In Te Ngahere we have been learning a game called ki o’ rhi. My teacher whaea Shanna takes half of the class out for a game then she takes the other half out the next day. How you play ki o’rhi is simple first you get in a team. Then one person in your team goes and stands by a cone as the ripper. Then one of your teammates would be on the other side of the person who rips. Also there is someone who is on the opposite side of the ripper with the rest of the team.

After that we started to play. The person who was with the team had to throw the ball to the guy at the end then he or she would catch it and throw it back. Then you would try and step the ripper and get a try. What was hard for me was to catch the ball because it was slippery.

Have you played ki o rahi before?

Tips About The Wonder Project.

 Tips About The Wonder Project.

Last week Te Ngahere had two rocket engineers come in and tell us about this thing called the Wonder Project. The wonder project is learning about rockets going into the sky. The two guys names were Troy and Gustavo they have been teaching us about thrust, thrust is when something pushes the rocket into the air. They also told us about weight and drag. Weight and drag is important ,to be able to launch the rocket. If there was no weight and drag the rocket would not land properly weight and drag makes it land head first. Without it the bottle would start flipping and land however it wants.

What was  hard for me was to glue on the wings because they would always fall of.

Have you done something similar?

Thank you for reading my blog post about the Wonder Project.

Mind Blowing Dodgeball

 Mind Blowing Dodgeball

In Te Ngahere we have been doing PE with my teacher. Yesterday half of the class played and the other half stayed in and did work. Then we would switch over we only had three matches , the two of the games we played I got out at the start and on the third game I lasted a while. We would line up behind the basketball hoop and she would count down from three then we would run and pick up the dodgeballs and shoot at the other team. If you catch the ball the person that threw the dodgeball they get out. Also if the ball bounces once and it hits the person there out if it bounces twice and it hits the player it doesn't count. I like dodgeball because it is a fantastic game and good exercise.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post thank you for reading it.
